Christmas Advent Activities

Here are the activities I've picked out for our advent calendar this year. There are a lot of easy, small projects because Ella loves doing "art projects," and I thought they'd be fun for her to do a couple of them with my mom while she's out here helping with the new baby, but I didn't want anything too complicated or expensive (aka, something I won't be willing to recycle after Christmas).

I also threw in a few games, one movie, and a few projects that will involve the baby.

Also, Grandparents? The ones that have to do with you, pretend to be surprised when they happen. Many thanks.

I bought and assembled all the supplies earlier this month so that every activity is ready for the day of (you can only imagine the pile of STUFF that is currently occupying the top of my dryer).

  10. Watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas"
  11. Make a Christmas tree forest
  12. Make peppermint wreaths
  13. Make bird feeders
  14. Christmas Feet Reindeer
  15. Make orange and clove pomanders
  16. Make muffins for friends
  17. Play Christmas Memory
  18. Hide objects in a stocking - make her guess by touch
  19. Decorate cardboard gingerbread men
  20. Plant a little herb pot
  21. Button ornament wreath
  22. Nativity Magnets
  23. Make a snowglobe
  24. Make a Christmas Village

  5. AND you're having a baby? I clicked through every idea (since I'm plannign on going through out advent of activities today or tomorrow (those are my only on-time options, right?) and add some new ones. But MAN, I'm not even going to pretend I'm willing or able to that many crafts with my little crew. I think maybe two of them. Last year our activities included things like drink hot chocolate and learn a new christmas song. Not anything involving glitter. I feel inspired by the fact that you are doing multiple glitter projects AND having a baby. I guess having grandma there will help :). Have fun!

  7. Clever girl. I bought the Lego Star Wars advent calendar this year. I bet my kids love me as much as yours seems to after they open it. Darth Maul is Santa Claus. So I'll pretty much be the coolest.

  8. I must add, however, that I made a cute one out of scrapbook paper last year . . . more along the lines of Christmas crackers that the kids loved. They had Legos in them too.

  10. I just had the same reaction as Carly up there (including the glitter thing. Both glitter and play dough are dangerous at our house!) That is one lofty list!
    You're secretly on speed, aren't you? ;)
