Raiding My Sister's Closet: Momiform Shoes

Seriously the BEST flats ever

One of the things I find most frustrating about getting dressed is finding the right pair of shoes to finish off an outfit.

The right pair of shoes can make an outfit, and the wrong pair completely can break it.

And in no part of your wardrobe is comfort more important than in your shoes (have you ever heard someone ask "Could I wear this shirt for a full day at Disneyland?").

Two summer ago, I bought a pair of sandals that seemed outrageously expensive to me (they were $90), and then they turned out to be worth every penny.

They were neutral enough to go with 90% of my outfits, but they had enough fun details (two-tone leather, the ankle straps) to add some interest to whatever boring combination I was wearing.

Plus, they were so comfortable, I could wear them all day, every day.

Last winter, I mourned when it was just too cold to wear sandals on a daily basis anymore because I didn't have a decent pair of closed-toed shoes to take their place. I ended up buying this pair of boots and wore them all winter long.

But this year, I felt like they were way less flattering on me when I was trying to balance a third-trimester pregnant belly, and so I was back to square one.

My most worn pair of shoes were these patterned sneakers (which I still love), but sometimes I needed something just a step nicer than sneakers.

Completely by accident, when I was doing a little online shopping, I stumbled on these ballet-inspired flats and ordered them, figuring I could return them if I hated them.

And when they arrived, I tried them on and thought, "Hmm. I don't know."

Generally, my rule is that if I don't love them, I return them, but then a week or two later, I was running out the door and there were absolutely no other shoes that worked with my outfit, so I grabbed them and off we went.

By the time we got home, hours later, I was sold. I think I've worn them 5 days a week since then.

Like my summer sandals, they're the perfect combination of neutral and fun, I can wear them for hours every day (I generally put them on when we leave the house and then don't take them off until bedtime), and they go with EVERYTHING.

I generally never ever ever wear flats with a dress or skirt because I feel like they make my legs look stumpy, but even pregnant, I think these are pretty darn flattering with a dress or skirt.

They're the perfect mom shoes that don't scream MOM SHOES.

Plus, instead of being $90 like my sandals, they were on sale for less than $30.

Every time I put them on, I think, "I can't believe I almost returned you."

  1. These are so cute. I went on urban outfitters website immediately after reading this and bought both the black and the nude--hope I love them!

  2. Those shoes are so cute! I unfortunately have massive ankles and can never pull off anything with straps around the without looking like a tree stump, otherwise I'd totally be down for these and their $30 price tag.
