When we packed up to go to London last spring, I tossed them in my suitcase and then didn't wear them the whole summer because. . . you don't wear boots, ankle or otherwise, in Las Vegas and Arizona during the summer. At least I didn't.
But when we arrived in London in mid-September and suddenly the weather was hovering around the 60s and 70s, I pulled them out and started wearing them ALL the time.
I had about four pairs of shoes to my name in London, and the black ankle boots quickly became the ones I wore most frequently - they kept my feet warmer than flats, I could wear them with jeans or skirts, and I didn't feel like I screamed "AMERICAN" when I wore them.
Plus, they were comfortable enough to wear for miles and miles of walking we did nearly every day for three months straight.
By the time we left London, they were pretty worn out, and my suitcase was so full, that I left them behind (I had slim hopes that Bart might have room for them when he came home a few weeks after we returned but . . . his suitcase was jammed too).
As I started to think about my fall wardrobe, I mourned the loss of those shoes, so I was thrilled to see that Famous Footwear was carrying an almost identical shoe this year.
It's going to be 106 today, so it's not exactly boot weather here yet and it's definitely not London, but at least I have a pair of black ankle boots again.
I'll take what I can get.
