Almost three years ago, Merrick mentioned in passing that she never pins anything on her Pinterest style boards that doesn't include at least one thing she owns (or very similar). Her goal isn't to have a Pinterest board of outfits that she can't recreate, but instead inspiration for how to wear things already in her closet.
I think of this all the time (I don't know that I follow it exactly, but I try), and so I keep an eye out when I'm browsing Pinterest for things that I already own or can make work with my closet.
So when I saw this outfit from Seven Layer Charlotte, I thought, "Hey I have a baseball tee. And a plaid scarf. Also jeans." And voila; dressed in five seconds (and then five seconds again three days later when I repeated the outfit exactly).

Also, I'm wearing this buffalo plaid scarf (which I made last year for $5 in about ten minutes) practically every day. It's warm, it's trendy, and from many angles, it somewhat disguises the fact that I'm getting more pregnant by the moment.
(When I was looking at the tutorial post I did for it last year, I kept thinking, "I WAS SO THIN!" I am definitely looking forward to being thin again next spring).
