In 2010, one of my unofficial goals was to get more sleep.
I did really well with that (you may note that I didn't have children for the first half of the year, and then when Ella started sleeping through the night at seven weeks old, I was so paranoid she was going to stop, that I went to bed at 9pm for weeks in fear that THIS would be the night she reverted (she never did, but ANI is the master of the bait-and-switch sleeping patterns)).
Over the years, I've slipped into worse habits and I know that getting too little sleep wears me down really quickly (I always think I deal well with little sleep until I actually don't get enough sleep and I snap at everyone in my family, burst into tears at the smallest things, and stare blankly at at the computer screen for ages. So no, I don't deal well).
This year, I'm working on getting more sleep and a couple of other mini-goals to get off to a great start both on a daily basis and over the course of the whole year. I've teamed up with Kellogg's this winter and I'll be sharing some of my strategies over the next couple of weeks as well as some of Team Kellogg's tips for a healthy start.
Of course, last night, I stayed up until almost midnight (we've been in Alabama, visiting Bart's brother and his family, so obviously once all the kids - two of ours and seven of theirs - go to bed, we sit around and talk until none of us can keep our eyes open), so I could use some of my own advice. One of my tips for more sleep would probably be, "Don't do anything fun ever."
