That two-day drive with little girls that I have been dreading for somewhere in the vicinity of three months? Over!
And we all survived. By noon on day two, Ani was pretty much done with her carseat, just moaning and whining for most of the last six hours (although she did also take two naps during that time period, so it wasn’t all bad).
And in the afternoon of the second day, Ella said, “I feel like I can hardly handle any more of this driving.” I couldn’t agree more.
Now it’s just all a blur of unpacking and four million trips to Target and Goodwill (you guys – I NEVER find anything good at Goodwill, and at a tiny one here we found a huge ottoman/coffee table, a tiny couch for Ella’s room, an enormous solid wood desk for Bart, and a bookshelf for Ella’s room for a total of $54. Score).
Expect me to deluge you with many many posts in the coming weeks and months about our house (which I love love love).
In the meantime, Ella is loving having more room to play and a backyard to boot (Bart looked at this photo that I posted on Instagram and said, “That’s more than a little deceiving.” The backyards on our street have no fences between them, so this is actually several backyards in a row. Looks better this way, though).

Wow! What a change of scenery!

Glad you made it safely! Can't wait to hear all about the new house. North Carolina sounds like it would be a great place to live. The Outer Banks are beautiful, if you ever have a chance to get to the beach out there. (Just don't go on Memorial Day weekend, or you'll be part of what's known as Mormon Spring Break, when 80% of LDS singles from the East Coast invade the area.)

Hooray! I'm glad you guys made it! It looks beautiful there! And I hear ya about the long driving – we just drove from Florida to California. Mind you, we don't have kids yet so that part was definitely different, but three weeks of traveling and six of those days full of driving and I am just done with cars. Sadly, we keep driving up and down the California coast. Happily, we finally were able to check out Harry Potter on audio to put on my husband's phone so we have something to listen to. Best of luck to you guys out there! New places are always an adventure!

Traveling in the heat with little ones was surely not fun for anyone, but glad you made it to your new home. Too bad you didn't see this post before your trip http://www.creatingreallyawesomefreethings.com/car-games-for-kids-2/. Some cute ideas.

I would have been super nervous for a two day drive with kids! Addy (and I) could barely handle 4 hours a few weeks ago! Glad they survived! Love H's cute sayings! I could read those all day! Can't wait to see your house and that backyard (s) is absolutely gorgeous, totally jealous!

Can't wait to hear about your house. Did you buy? Can't remember…N Carolina has always charmed me, don't know why. I hope you like it!

Glad you all made it! And it looks lovely. Congratulations on Goodwill as well. We are very excited for you, though we know it will be work to get settled in. Love to all.

That long drive…I feel your pain. My girls are older than yours, but we are on day 1 of our 20 hour car trip home from vacation. Ten hours with my six year old has not been fun. She did great the first 8 days of vacation, but now she wants to be home – NOW. Lots of tears and whining.
Can't wait to see your new house

So happy you arrived safe and sound! North Carolina looks beautiful, and you can't beat a backyard, big or small! In related news, we actually had a patio put in this week so yay us! Now if you could just send me some of that luscious grass, we'd be set.

Hooray I'm so glad you arrived safely! And look at that grass! Quite a change from parched Texas ground cover, right? Can't wait to hear how NC is treating y'all.

I'm glad you made it here safely! Your little girl Ella is just absolutely hilarious to me with some of the things she says. She keeps me laughing for sure. Post some more about what she says – ha! =]
