A Week of Filling Out Forms

This has been a week of doctors appointments.

On Tuesday, Ani had her four-month well check. All day, about every two minutes, Ella would ask if SHE was getting a shot too.

On the car ride over, Ella asked if Ani would get a sucker after her shots. When I told her that, no, Ani would not, Ella asked if SHE could have a sucker after Ani's shots, and then immediately followed it up by saying, "Yes, I'll get a sucker because I am very brave at the doctor's office when Ani gets shots."

Frankly, I feel like parents should get a sucker after watching their children get stabbed in their chunky little legs with multiple long needles. (Of course, I don't actually want a sucker. I want a large Lindt chocolate ball, but the nurse didn't offer me either one).

And then yesterday, I went in for my annual eye exam and spent the rest of the afternoon looking at my children's blurry faces because my eyes were so dilated I couldn't see anything within a two foot radius of my nose. If Ani had sprouted a second nose, I probably wouldn't have been able to tell.

Next week, I'm getting my hair cut (bangs? no bang? Ack. . . ) which is much more enjoyable than either of this week's appointments.

  1. I've been antsy to get a haircut. My hair is much shorter than yours, but my last haircut was in november and now it's on my neck and so! annoying! but Sunday, I have an appointment and my hair can finally stop doing this annoying flip in the back where I can't get the flat iron to reach.

  2. Looove your outfit. Bangs or no bangs is a question that haunts me probably twice a year when I'm deciding to cut or endure the horrid awkwardness of growing them out. You look great with both. :)

And suckers should be rewarded for sitting through ANY kind of appointment, shots or not.

  3. I think you would be darling with some bangs! I am pretty partial to them since I've never had them... the grass is always greener :)

Poor Ani! Little legs. I get a little sad whenever I see those circle bandaids on thighs :( We all know what it's from!

  4. I agree... We totally deserve some chocolate for taking our kids to the doctor!!

  5. Hahaha, you most definitely were NOT kidding about Ella's sweet tooth. She will even willingly get a shot just for the sucker!

I'm going back and forth over my next haircut. I haven't had bangs or hair shorter than just below my shoulders since elementary school, and I am thinking about getting my haircut with both because I have wanted to forever and I just need a CHANGE. I am also terrified that it will look awful and I won't know what to do with it. Good luck! You have great hair, so I am sure it will turn out wonderful either way. :)

  6. I say bangs! But then again, I am always a proponent for bangs. I love them!

  7. At my last appt the dr dialted my eyes but forgot to tell me (and I'm a dorkus and forgot that that's what happens at the dr) and I thought I had gone blind. I was FREAKING out. The husband just laughed...

Bangs... I think about them often but am too chicken/ afraid/ lazy to actually make the cut. Someday.

  8. Oooh, that scarf! I love it. The bangs question is on my mind as well-- I know I need a haircut, and lately I've been feeling so...foreheady, you know?

  9. We took Felix for his six-month checkup on Monday. I let Ike have a sucker as we headed back to the office. And then I let him have one on the way out too. It ended up being a good call to let him have that first once since the doc was WAY behind and we waited in the office for like 40 minutes for him. (This is why I prefer morning appointments.)

And then last night I got to take Ike to the after-hours clinic. And he had to do a breathing treatment with a nebulizer. Watching kids get shots is certainly no fun, but holding a very strong toddler down while keeping a mask on his face for about 8 minutes is also no fun. And then we had to do it twice in the middle of the night. Ugh.

I think I'm going to get bangs next time I get a haircut.

  10. Sounds like a stressful week. Bangs are good if your hair tends to fall in your face.

  11. I am getting my hair cut tonight and I can't wait! With a newborn (how long can you call a baby a newborn? She's 3 months now!) who is nursing I need something to feel like myself again. So my attempt to grow out my hair is getting chucked. I just need to be me again!!! I usually have a short bob and am also considering some bangs again. Bangs are always such a hot topic.

  12. Haha! Ella is hilarious. Did she end up getting a sucker? :)

I wish I could get bangs again, I hate my hair right now, but with my post-partum thinned out hair, it's not possible until it all grows out more :(

  13. I'd personally love a chocolate ball for getting through a dr's visit with children, no matter what the reason. And definitely get some bangs, though I'd say side-swept just from my personal experience.

  14. You could trim your bangs so you could still pin them back but if you wanted to have bangs that day, not so long they'd be in your eyes...if I worded that right. And oh yes, parents DEFINITELY need something after having to hold their children down for shots. Especially when you have to hold them for the PKU test at their two week appointment. I may have been almost sobbing when my first born had that done. Pretty sure it's a special form of torture or initiation into parenthood. :/
