Weeks 37 and 38

I always love black shirts, but I love black shirts the MOST when I'm pregnant because they make you look from some angles like you might not actually be pregnant. Next time I'm pregnant, I'm buying 10 black shirts and calling it good.

Also, I look a thousand times more pregnant in Week 38 than in Week 37. Such is life.

Down to the final countdown now, with eleven days until my due date. Mainly, I just want this baby to wait until at least after Thanksgiving because I will be unbelievably sad if I miss Thanksgiving dinner and associated festivities at Ralphie's this week.

My doctor already told me that, while the hospital does desserts pretty well, the turkey over there is not very impressive. And I am not one of those people who eats the turkey out of obligation on Thanksgiving Day. I love a good turkey.

  1. okay. can you and Merrick sell some genes? between these FULL TERM photos and her postpartum photos --- I'm sort of jealous.

love your shirt in the 38 week photo. don't tell me it isn't maternity. I'm 31 weeks and those types of shirts just don't look right on me these days...

  4. My daughter was born the day before Thanksgiving (she turns six this week). So I was in the hospital on Thanksgiving Day, but asked for an early discharge because I didn't have any stitches and really wanted to sleep in my own bed and see my toddler. So we went home that evening and *everyone* and their mother sent leftovers. So I got my turkey dinner without having to cook AND my little turkey baby.

  10. She definitely looks like she's dropped, and according to mom you're pretty much completely effaced, right? She could be here at any moment! But I'll pray she waits til after thanksgiving...I feel the same way about a good turkey! And if you go into labor the day after, pack a lunch of cold turkey and ranch :)

  11. I am one who hates turkey, and also one who LOVED the hospital food at the Texas hospital (I can't remember if your city location is a super blog secret or not, but at the hospital I would think you would be delivering at). I mean..Bluebell anytime night or day. Any. Time. It really was top notch! Good luck. Nothing funner than a new baby!

  13. Black shirts are perfect for almost all occasions and everyday! It would be a shame to celebrate Thanksgiving in the hospital but the day after would be excellent! I totally dig the red shoes in your first outfit-stylish yet they look comfy.

  16. I cannot wait to hear about next baby! And her arrival! I hope there will be a Twitter post or Instagram or something so I know when it's actually happening...because, you know, you won't be busy or anything. Just realized how selfish I was sounding! I'm just excited for you!

  17. Wow, you don't even look pregnant from the front in the black shirt! You and Merrick seriously have amazing genes. Both of you are so lucky that you didn't swell up like balloons! And I can't believe you're still wearing heels. When I was pregnant, I abandoned heels the second the stick was positive :)

Good luck with the final stretch! :) Hope you can still make it to Thanksgiving!

  18. Way to go!! I also just barely have been making my comeback into running. We should run a race together once you're back at it after the baby!
