I Am Not Ashamed

Many weeks ago, a friend lent me High School Musical. Because I do not live in a bubble, I was aware of this movie (in fact, I'd even heard some of the soundtrack when we babysat some friends' children). I had seen our friends Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens at the grocery store checkout lines. Even my sister had told me how awesomely awesome of a movie it was. And yet, I had not seen it.

Then my borrowed copy sat next to the DVD player for weeks. Untouched, unloved, unwatched.

On Tuesday night, Bart had some work to do on the computer that only required half his attention; we didn't really want to watch 24 because that show requires your full attention. So, I suggested we finally watch High School Musical.

And now, I'm a total nerd. Because I love this movie. When we finished the movie last night, I went back and watched most of the song and dance scenes again. And then I watched them on YouTube. And then I watched them this morning while I was getting ready. And when I get home from work? I will probably watch them again.

Laugh if you must, but I won't hear you. Because I will be over here humming "Breaking Free."

  1. Well I haven't heard of High School Musical. I'm really not up on movies like I used to be. Guess I'll have to add it to my maybe in the future list. If you like it, probably Andrew and I will like it. I can't guarantee that about George, but you never know.

  2. You know how I feel about the movie, so I am right there with you. Sad, but true. But we are two educated women, so we have nothing to be ashamed of.

  3. I love this movie, too. But I have kids so can admit to watching it without being embarrassed. I did not enjoy the sequel as much but it was still good.

  4. I sort-of watched it while I was in Texas at Christmas. Eric and I suggested to my little sister that we watch a movie, and that was what she picked. I was playing on the computer, though, so I didn't really pay attention. I didn't think it was all that great. Maybe I should try again. Except I probably won't.

  6. Somehow, I have avoided that movie. It wasn't easy. When the first one came out I babysat 4 obSESSED kids for a week. They watched it at least thrice daily thanks to tivo. And I still managed to not hear or see a speck of it.

Knowing you liked it kind of makes me regret that I always ran from the room. Maybe I should give it a try?
