Done with Harry Potter. I skipped the gym last night and tonight to stay home on the couch and read outloud with Bart. I've read a few things about people being disappointed about the ending, but I thought it was marvelous.
I started to get really choked up in the epilogue because it was over. . . I've loved Harry Potter and Co for nearly a decade now. My mom started reading the first one to me and my sisters in her bedroom in Las Vegas and now, in Texas, with my own husband, I read the last pages. Whew. . .getting a little teary now, just thinking about it. I read the first few chapters of the fifth book outloud to my dad while he painted the living room when we were the only two home. He hadn't read any of the other books, and I kept stopping to explain things to him, but I didn't want to read it alone. I read the rest of the fifth book on a bus, taking a cross-country trip, sobbing to myself when Sirius died. Those books, stupid as this may sound, have been a big part of my life.
And, if you've finished, leave a comment or email me and tell me what you thought.
